Since the time of its inception as a union territory, the education standard of Dadra and Nagar Haveli was not very high. Later on with initiative from the central government and local administrative authority, educational scenario of the whole place started changing and the schools in Dadra and Nagar Haveli have undertaken the most important role in this aspect. According to data of 1983-84, there were only 13 primary schools where only about 560 students were enrolled. But from the latest information available, we come to know that already 200 schools have been established and considerable number of students is studying there and it has definitely contributed to a great extent in enhancing the rate of literacy in this place.
